Category: Purchasing- Career level: Manager- Contract type: PermanentAn Opportunity has arisen within SKF (U.K.) LTD, Clevedon, for a Procurement Team Leader.

This role will drive key KPIs and Improvement projects within the procurement function in the Clevedon Supply Chain, working alongside Group Purchasing.

Lead the internal procurement team to improve Customer Service by way of improved delivery on time and reduced lead times from our suppliers and sub-contractors.


Key Responsibilities and Activities

  • Lead the procurement team in daytoday activities, ensuring the teams keep a focus on providing support to production and with a customer focus.
  • Work closely with Group Purchasing and the quality team to make sure internal records are uptodate and internal requirements are being met by suppliers.
  • Build good relationships with our key suppliers. This person must be flexible so that visits to site visits can be carried out.
  • Deputise for/support the Supply Chain Manager on escalation calls with customers as and when needed.
  • Followup and attendance with Key Suppliers / Sub-Contractors; working with the Procurement team and purchasing to improve delivery on time in full.
  • Improve and document a forecasting process for our suppliers / subcontractors and agree on safety stocks.
  • Improve and document communication with existing suppliers on their performance and drive them to take actions when necessary.
  • Understand the Production Planning Function and work closely with the planning team to understand what is required from our suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Attend and contribute to ECN and TG0 meetings on behalf of the Supply Chain team
  • Develop the team; request any appropriate training when / if required and be responsible for holiday cover and cross training of the teams.
  • Attendance of daily Output Meetings and cover for SCM when requested.
  • Support teamwork, communication, and collaboration between the planning, purchasing and procurement functions.
  • Drive NPI (ETO) progress, attend ETO meetings and assess / eliminate risk to achieve delivery on time.
  • Produce reports and update charts for analysis of loading and capacity with the Planning and Procurement Manager.
  • Carry out any other appropriate duties when and if requested.

Skills, Experience, and key attributes

  • Planning and or Procurement experience highly sought after; proven relevant experience in Supply Chain activities in a manufacturing environment will be considered
  • Evidence of a Customer Focussed approach and ability to create good relationships with internal and external contacts
  • Strong SAP and Excel skills
  • Strong communication and influencing skills for both internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent leadership skills: reliable; people orientated; approachable
  • Knowledge of LEAN concepts
  • Highly organised and able to Create and Drive Action Plans
This role is based in Clevedon and reports to the Master Scheduler & Planning Manager.
