We are currently recruiting for a Hygiene Team Leader on Nights to work in the Lamb Primary area of Kepak, Merthyr Tydfil.

This is a full time, permanent position working 6.00pm to 3.00am Monday to Friday with an hourly rate of £13.92.

Job Purpose

To support technical management in the successful management of the hygiene department on days, enabling the production process by providing a supplementary cleaning service - always ensuring sufficient cleanliness of the factory ancillary areas and all associated equipment.

Implementing best practice hygiene techniques to promote food safety, quality & environmental compliance, maintaining standards at all times to deliver this.

Requirements:

Role Key Accountabilities Added Value

Adhering to hygiene schedules, monitoring their completion across the team in order to deliver a best in class cleaning service, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness at all times.

Ensure the completion of all relevant hygiene documentation and cleaning records within a designated area.

Co-ordination of the day to day activities of the days hygiene team (inclusive of janitorial staff, tray wash, compactor area and external hygiene operatives).

Develop and maintain the hygiene team within your area in order to adequately support the objectives of the team, the department and the business.

Actively engage in routines to maintain a pro-active approach to hygiene, food safety, quality and environmental standards across the site, working closely with Technical and Operational teams to drive standards and improve KPI's.

Support any continuous improvement projects and the commissioning of equipment, assisting in the development and training out of new cleaning instruction cards.

Delivery of training to the hygiene team. Conducting competency assessments as necessary to support the training regime.
Support site audits, internal and external, pro-actively dealing with non-conformity to drive compliance standards.
Issuing hygiene chemicals and relevant operational equipment required to facilitate the various cleaning operations within the factory. Advising on stock levels and replenishment needs.
Assist with the implementation and delivery of the departmental objectives, enforcing routines, structure and reporting lines.
Ensuring all key inspection points are reviewed and monitored, verifying the standard of work carried out by direct reports.

Assisting with the management of all chemical storage locations at site, ensuring appropriate storage in line with COSHH and site procedures.

Promoting a positive working environment, developing a culture of team work within direct reports and across the shifts.

  • Qualifications
  • HACCP / Food Safety
  • Level 2 essential
  • Relevant factory hygiene / cleaning training essential
  • COSHH / Chemical Handling training essential
  • Experience
  • Previous experience within a team leader / supervisory role is desirable
  • Previous experience in a hygiene role within the meat, chilled foods and/or added value sectors desired
  • Knowledge/Skills
  • Sound understanding of hygiene requirements and cleaning methods
  • Good understanding of current health & safety requirements
  • Strong people management and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a hands on approach to hygiene management.
