Purpose of the job


One of two senior direct reports to the Head of Finance Operations alongside the European Payables Manager, the role will manage all aspects of Accounts Receivable, some elements of Credit Control for Insurance and Accounts Payable for Insurance and Assistance.

Understanding the linkages between the Receipts function and the Payments function is essential. The Manager will set clear goals and targets for their department and the individuals within it.


The Accounts Payable Manager will have direct reports covering three areas: Accounts Receivable including credit control, Reconciliations including cash management and credit card receipt reconciliations, and Accounts Payable, processing invoices and payments.


A key focus for the role will be on process, trying to optimise efficiency of tasks and the elimination of wasted effort.

Tasks will include monthly Debtor reporting, vendor reconciliations, bank reconciliations, the on-boarding process for new and renewedbusiness, efficient escalation of overdue debt within the business, forming good working relations with internal stakeholders and improving or redesigning existing processes.


Key responsibilities:


  • Provide leadership to the direct reports and the Accounts Payable team
  • Develop an understanding of the European Finance Accounts Receivable function including key stakeholders and Managers. Proactively work with these functions developing an understanding (including documentation) of all processes and systems.
  • Ensure good accounting practices and internal policies are followed
  • Ensure adherence to company playbook
  • Balance sheet reconciliations are to be performed for all TB accounts relating to AR and AP each month by working day
  • Improve Debtor and Vendor reporting

Knowledge, skills and experience required:


  • Insurance Accounting experience is preferred
  • Financial systems experience, including upgrade/implementation, desirable
  • Strong IT skills, Intermediate/Advanced Excel
  • ACCA/CIMA qualified preferably
  • Experience of SAP would be helpful
  • Proven Management skills
