About the role


As part of our growth, we are seeking someone from an Audit, Compliance, Risk or ERM background to join our compliance operations team as our newly created Compliance Operations Manager.

You will have exposure to various departments within our FTSE 100 businessas you implement and embed the following Group-wide frameworks:


  • Policy management
  • Regulatory reporting
  • Speak Up (Whistleblowing) governance, engagement, and operations (including the management of highly sensitive investigations)
  • Gifts and hospitality oversight
  • Breach management
  • Group Compliance Manual
  • Secondline data management

What you'll be doing

  • Designing, implementing, embedding and optimising secondline operations
  • Taking ownership of the plan designed to achieve the outcomes agreed, ensuring 2LOD operations are resilient and that processes are repeatable and efficient.
  • Working to embed 2LOD operations by ensuring it is in fully integrated into the business' culture, processes, as appropriate, and is utilised effectively.
  • Producing high quality reports on the delivery of outcomes, providing data driven insight to relevant committees and senior leadership.
  • Managing and reporting on confidential Whistleblowing investigations
  • Challenging the business on the compliance with internal frameworks
  • Contributing towards the delivery of secondline transformation and optimisation, continually seeking opportunities to improve the way the organisation's compliance frameworks are managed.
  • Support the design, delivery and embedding if the enterprise risk management framework, including but not limited to prudential risk, conduct risk and GRC tooling

About you

  • Experience of working within and having a thorough understanding of financial service environments with expertise in compliance, risk management and control
  • Experience of working in a commercial organisation and liaising with all levels of stakeholder.
  • Understanding, and experience of working within the threelines of defence
  • An effective and engaging communicator, able to present complex information in simple context, adapting your style to suit your audience
  • Accomplished in forging effective relationships with colleagues at all levels, skilled at influencing, negotiating and managing challenging conversations with ease
  • Possess an analytical mindset, striving for continuous improvement across relationships and process
  • Operate with a sense of credibility and gravitas, upholding HL values throughout

Interview process
This will be a two-stage interview process. The interviews may consist of competency and behavioural based questions and a task or presentation.


Working Schedule
This role will be based in our Bristol head office, BS1 5HL. This role is permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

We offer a hybrid flexible working pattern to enable you the option of working from home and coming into the office.
