This is a fantastic opportunity to join Bristol City Council Housing & Landlord Services who are focused on improving standards in council housing.

Bristol owns and manages 28,000 flats and houses in all wards across the city, built in every decade over the previous 100 years.


You will be working within the Repairs & Maintenance Service who are responsible for the provision of quality day-to-day repairs and maintenance of Bristol City Council's housing stock and the repairing and refurbishment of empty homes to bring them back to a quality lettable standard.

We undertake major and specialist projects, and planned programmes to maintain and improve the quality and safety of council homes and the surrounding environment.


Our aim is to ensure that we provide safe, secure, habitable properties that our tenants can be proud of - the successful applicant will work with numerous stakeholders to ensure a safe environment for our staff, contractors and residents.


We are looking for someone with:

  • Demonstrable experience in a health and safety construction environment, and working knowledge of construction H&S Legislation including CDM Regulations 201
  • The attributes to work with delivery teams and managers in the role of critical. Friend and be able to challenge staff and contractors' performance to ensure they meet our expectations and high safety standards.
  • Experience of undertaking audits and/or inspections of construction sites, contractors, and mobile workplaces (vehicles) to verify compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Risk management methodology, calculation and reporting experience.


We need someone who is motivated and passionate about addressing health and safety issues and is not daunted by working in a dynamic and developing service.


You must hold a full UK driving license as this is an essential car user role.
