We are currently looking for a Manager of Teaching & Learning (MTL) to join our busy team


The Manager of Teaching & Learning (MTL) is a critical member of the College team and primarily contributes towards the various administrative practices that support teaching strategies, curriculum changes and academic quality processes.

The MTL will workin close collaboration with the academic services team and Senior Tutors in maintaining the College's critical work in coordinating the onboarding, supporting, and training of teaching staff, and coordinating the set up and use of Learning Management Softwaremanagement (Moodle), coordinating academic enhancement programmes, curriculum reviews as well as supporting new programme development initiatives.


The MTL is responsible for the line management of up to 50 sessional academic staff and collaborates closely with the Manager of Academic Services as part of the same team.


Manager of Teaching & Learning Duties:

  • Lead the teacher peer review observation process for the College
  • Lead the administration of internal and external moderation
  • Coordinate the set up and use of Learning Management Software (Moodle) and provide support for teachers and coordinate regular audits
  • Coordinate academic enhancement activities
  • Coordinate the staffing, delivery and timetabling of the Personal Development Programme
  • Coordinate student focused Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion initiatives
  • Consult with Partnership Leads and University Partner Departments/Schools/Faculties on academic and quality matters as required
  • Manage data analysis and review in relation to Module performance and curriculum reviews
  • Manage the validation of new Modules/ Programmes working closely with University Academic Registry and related administration
  • Support and coordinate academic quality assurance processes
  • Consult with Marketing and Admissions team about course portfolio updates
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the Partner University's and its degree schemes to provide accurate and robust advice to all stakeholders
  • Support Manager of Academic Services onboarding new Academic Services Officers
  • Support academic operations including assessment processes, student records and registration
  • Manage the teaching inbox
  • Support Subject Leaders in setting up specific delivery modes (laboratory sessions etc.)
  • Coordinate reasonable adjustment requirements for both students and teaching staff
  • Attend operational and strategic meetings with Partner University Departments/Schools/Faculties on academic and quality matters as required
  • Line manage Academic Officers and both permanent and sessional teaching staff (up to 50)
  • Lead on recruitment and training of academic teaching staff (ATS)
  • Manage contracts, payroll, induction, and teaching allocation
  • Budget reporting to CMT/SMT and Navitas
  • Drive performance within the team to meet KPIs: Retention, Pass rate, Progression and Continuation
  • Comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
  • Participate in enrolment and orientation activities at peak times
  • Perform duties as may be required by the College Director & Principal.

Manager of Teaching & Learning Requirements:

The role requires a high energy, self-starter who can use their initiative and be an active and productive member of a cross functional team.

The MTL must possess the ability and commitment to maintain the highest standards of accuracy throughout their work.
The postholder will have line management responsibilities and report to the Director of Education and Academic Services.

Essential

  • Postgraduate degree
  • Recognise Teaching qualification PGCE/Cert Ed
  • Curriculum development
  • At least 2 years' experience of working in a Higher Education or independent Education setting
  • Experience of upholding and imparting policy and regulations
  • Knowledge of equal opportunity, equity and workplace health and safety principles
  • Experience of working in a fastpaced environment
  • Experience of working with and meeting the needs of different stakeholders
  • Experience handling and prioritising multiple workloads
  • The ability to lead a team and set a positive example to others

  • Excellent verbal and written English language skills
  • The ability to use Microsoft Excel to present data in various formats
