This post provides a great opportunity for O and G doctors at ST4 + level but ideally at ST6-7 level to train in the exciting and rapidly progressing field of genomics in gynaeoncology cancer whilst working in one of the biggest and busiest trusts in the country.
Genomic Gynae Oncology Fellow
We aim to offer a trainee a training in genetics and genomics with particular regard to gynaecological oncology
The training will be delivered by a combined approach within gynaecological oncology and clinical genetics and will include sessions in both departments.
We will offer training in:
Gynae cancer MDT working and how genomics / genetics fits into treatment decisions for patients with cancer and in prevention of cancers in family members carrying genetic mutations.
This post will also include one day a week participating in Obstetrics and gynaecology activities including general ANC, general gynaecology clinics, labour ward, assessment areas and theatres.

Working for our organisation
The Maternity and Gynaecology department includes all hospital and community based
obstetrics, gynaecology and midwifery services. 44 consultants contribute to our obstetrics
and gynaecology service, of which 18 are obstetric consultants, 18 gynaecologists, and 8
combined obstetrician and gynaecologists.
The hospital based services are split between the City hospital and Queen's Medical Centre
sites. Both have a labour suite which is associated with a level 3 Neonatal Unit, dedicated
obstetric anaesthetic service, and inpatient and outpatient obstetric services. There is a 3
tier junior doctor 24 hour presence. Our fetal medicine centre accepts regional referrals, and
is delivered across the two sites. There is a dedicated maternal medicine service, with multiprofessional clinics including obstetric haematology, renal, and medical. There is a strong
research presence in the department, with Nottingham contributing to, and leading, national
and international clinical trials.

Qualifications:
Essential criteria
- Certificate of Completion of Training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
- Membership of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology
- GMC Full Registration with License to Practice
- Advanced Labour ward practice ATSM
- Distinction, prizes or honours during postgraduate training period
Essential criteria
- Ability to participate in resident out of hours rota
- Motivated and able to work unsupervised as well as within a small team under appropriate guidance
- Evidence of understanding of the importance of team work & ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Essential criteria
- Commitment to Trust Values and Behaviours
Essential criteria
- At least 7 years experience as a doctor in O&G
- Clear structure to training path and commitment to a career in O&G
- Commitment to clinical excellence
- UK experience in working in O&G
Essential criteria
- Shows evidence of having taught medical students and junior doctors in a hospital setting
- Evidence of having provided teaching to multidisciplinary groups
- Has presented at local, regional or national meetings
- Completed a 'training the trainers' or 'teaching skills' course
Essential criteria
- Excellent communications skills, written and oral.
- Excellent problem solving skills using team when appropriate
- Able to present and receive complex information within the multi professional team
- Participation in a clinicallybased and/or educational research proje
