We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer for a growing ISP in Berkshire, roles can be remote or hybrid.


As a Systems Engineer, you will spend your time Implementing & supporting OSS systems and associated infrastructure for our core network.

You'll be passionate about building world class, resilient, scalable, and automated systems.

You will have the capability to constantly improve the efficiency of your activities and that of the network you help to design and build.

Alongside your system engineering activities, you shall be available to handle escalations from other team members.

You will also be available to mentor other junior members of the network engineering team and ensure resiliency within your department.

You will closely work with our network engineers to integrate and interface the systems with the core network. Knowledge and experience of networking is a bonus.

This role will require an on-call duty rota for system monitoring; however the role will be standard business hours.


Job Description:


Working alongside the CTO, Head of Systems and Network Team, play a key role and be responsible for implementing the core network supporting systems, including OSS.

Identify the best systems and OSS for the given high-level requirements.

Write HLD and LLDs for the various systems required.

Write configs and test outcomes within physical and virtual lab environments.

Implement new designs and systems into the live production network.

Continuously identify areas for improvement within the network to deliver improved system performance and reliability.

Ensure the systems are designed, dimensioned and scaled to compliment the core network in lock step.


Essentials:
Great experience building & operating Linux-based operating systems.

VMware or KVM experience.

Good base knowledge of networking (TCP/IP)

Good experience with AWS or Azure.

Customer service experience.

Dynamic with the ability to understand new systems and requirements.

Great written and verbal communication skills.

Good personal time management.

Ability to meet tight deadlines

Team player. Supportive and helpful attitude
