John K Philips Group Ltd are one of the longest established transportation companies in the Northwest, who have seen huge growth and success this past year. We now have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Planner to join our fantastic team based in St. Helens
We are recruiting for an experienced Transport Planner to join our busy Transport Operation.

Reporting to the Transport Manager you will be responsible for controlling the efficient deployment and routing of delivery vehicles around the UK.

This will include multi-drop groupage (network traffic), part loads and full loads (including ADR).

The Transport Planner will help deliver first-class customer service through agreed KPI's that maximise vehicle and manpower utilisation within a targeted budget.


Responsibilities

  • Prioritise workload and deal with a demanding transport plan, planning for multiple customers and networks for next day and economy deliveries.
  • Liaise with our internal Customer service team and the drivers for deliveries.
  • Manage and understand Working Time Directive Compliance and comply with all Transport legislation.
  • Ability to cover loads with Sub-Contractors and negotiate rates
  • Managing and directing a fleet of 37 drivers planning their routes, start times, end times etc.
  • Efficiently working with the Warehouse / Operation department Team leaders.

Requirements:


  • Positive, hardworking attitude. Someone who not only strives to do their best, but can find initiatives to improve daily operations.
  • Can keep a calm, level head under pressure.
  • Previous experience in a Transport Planning Role including multi drop, LTL & FTL planning
  • Experience of working in a busy Transport office
  • Knowledge of Drivers Hours, Tachograph and WTD legislation
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety
  • HGV legislation knowledge
  • Possess a good problem solving methodology
  • Utilisation and profitability focused

Job Type:
Permanent

Salary competitive (in line with experience, to be discussed at interview)

Schedule

  • 9 hour shift rotation early / lates
  • Monday to Friday
  • Saturday working required, Rota basis (1 in 4)
Full training will be given on all I.T. Packages and process requirements


Salary:
From £28,000.00 per year
