Job Summary:


TGS has one of the largest global subsurface databases and this role will allow you access to this exciting resource.

The role will involve the assessments and interpretation of data to maximize and demonstrate the value.

Working independently across disciplines, integrating various data types to deliver technical leadership, and trusted recommendations, this role will provide key support to the business.


Detailed and regional geological understanding is key to support the development of new projects and assist with the sales of TGS existing datasets.

TGS database includes a wealth of well data, 2D and 3D seismic datasets, multibeam and coring data as well as new energy transition projects.

A breadth of geoscience skills will be utilized to provide detailed interpretation and insights to provide understanding of the datasets to the clients.

E&P skill sets, such as seismic interpretation, play and prospect identification and well analysis will be crucial.

The interpretation geoscientist will work with the team to maximise value from existing datasets and develop new projects in the E&P space as well as data and projects that support the energy transition.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work independently on geological interpretation for case studies and trend analysis to highlight data value and improve TGS product awareness
  • Integrate seismic interpretation and attributes with geology, petrophysics, well performance and other relevant data for comprehensive reservoir characterization
  • Provide geotechnical support to internal and external client projects ensuring a successful outcome
  • Support Sales teams and work closely with Sales to understand requirements and establish trusted client relationships
  • Support imaging teams in processing projects by providing geological insights to aide with imaging and velocity model building, to jointly improve the image to meet customer needs.
  • Support and assist in development of new seismic investment opportunities, work closely with Project Developers providing necessary technical expertise.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge transfer and promotional initiatives
  • Prepare and deliver lunch and learns to customers and client facing presentations
  • Contribute technical content for marketing specific regional initiatives
  • Contribute to technical publications and presentations as required by the BU
  • Seek creative, innovative, approaches to streamline workflows in partnerships and collaborations within the industry and occasionally academia.
  • Collaborate and communicate frequently and effectively with TGS international offices
  • Take responsibility for own safety, and comply with all instructions given regarding health, safety and the protection of the environment. Active participation in TGS culture and HSE initiatives
  • Ensure the correct use of safety devices and protective equipment as required and report any hazards, accidents or injuries to immediate supervisor.

Job Requirements (Education and Experience):

  • Master's degree in Earth Sciences disciplines or equivalent oil industry experience
  • Demonstrable Geological/Geophysical experience in exploration/development preferred
  • Sales/ marketing/ business development experience preferable
  • A wide range of Africa and Middle East experience is desirable
  • International experience is desirable
  • Resource play experience is desirable
  • Hands on reservoir characterization, reservoir modeling, seismic attribute and petrophysical experience is highly desirable
  • Travel for conferences and client presentations, nationally and internationally will occasionally be required.
