PROCESS LEADER (Front End)

  • RUGBY PLANT
4on 4off shift role

2 Days - 7am to 7pm
2 Nights - 7pm to 7am

14 days off every 5 shift rotations (holiday allowance included in shift pattern)

Plus 6 "rota days" per year.

We are searching for a process Leader to s organise and provide leadership to their team which will enable them to meet the goals set by the Shift Manager in line with the Plant's objectives.

This is a hands on role and therefore your technical and engineering skills are key for this role and well as your ability to mentor and lead a small team.

Main Purpose of the Position


The purpose of this position is to organise and provide leadership to their team which will enable them to meet the goals set by the Shift Manager in line with the Plant's objectives.


This is a hands-on role and as such it is an integral part of the team functioning in their area - leading by example is a key requirement of this role.

Their main duties are to organise and provide leadership to their team to ensure achievement of the following:


  • Key Responsibilities:
Participate in workplace safety inspections/behavioral safety programme
Create an environment which promotes and maintains good industrial relations, safe working practises and excellent housekeeping standards

Meet Production, Quality, Spoilage and environmental improvement targets as set by the Shift Manager, the Continuous Improvement teams and the Plant budget.

Investigate and/or report equipment or process defects promptly and use the team and outside assistance to identify and undertake corrective action to prevent re-occurrence.

Drive continuous improvement efforts within the team to minimise operating costs in the plant.

Liase with the engineering department to ensure all maintenance work is fully completed to the required standard and continually look for methods to reduce unplanned equipment downtime or operating machines below their rated speeds.

Ensure standardisation of equipment setting is maintained and operate with great attention to detail in order to achieve the required specification and product quality.

Continually identify training needs for the team. Provide and organise any such training to ensure the team is fully competent in all aspects of their roles.
Set up effective communication links with team leaders on the other shifts. Co-ordinate actions to effectively utilise downtime.
Monitor / Control / Communicate the performance of the team within and outside the team.
Ensure effective use of materials and identify programmes to improve usage and minimise waste.
Investigate/follow up on all process related problems ensuring necessary corrective actions are taken and maintained
Safely manufacture cans according to the production plan and budget in accordance with EHS, quality and production requirements.

Provide effective training, leadership and constructive feedback to their team members in order that they can perform to their full potential.

Ensure corrective action is taken, as required, for all equipment and operational problems/potential problems to continuously improve the operation.

Actively seek and follow up on Shift Team's ideas/suggestion and assist in driving change through continuous improvement in the Plant.

Operate effectively with other Process Leaders to control the overall performance of the Plant.

Professional Requirements


Qualifications:

Apprenticeship in an Engineering/Mechanical discipline or equivalent experience

Languages

English, written and verbal

Computer Skills/literacy

Microsoft Office, Excel, Word

Experience/Attributes

Apprenticeship in an Engineering/Mechanical discipline or equivalent experience
Computer literacy and the ability to generate reports and manage via computerised data
Good knowledge of ISO standards
Good leadership, delegation, communication, organisational and influencing skills.
Analytical skills to interpret numerical data
Working knowledge of Health and Safety work practises
A manufacturing background in a high speed, high volume continuous process
The ability and willingness to assist with breakdowns and line conversions.
Can demonstrate the ability to work precisely with strong attention to detail.

A team player with strong problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work alone under their own initiative.

The ability to work well under pressure and organise and prioritise their work load.
Ability to complete paperwork accurately and thoroughly.
A basic knowledge of quality and hygiene systems would be advantageous.
