WHISH Co-ordinator
Whitby Hidden Impairments Support and Help (WHISH) are looking for a co-ordinator.

You will be comfortable people and computers, and have the ability to organise and make a real impact to a small charity going places.

It is a 2 year contract, renewable dependent upon funding. It will include weekday and occasional weekend work.

We help over 140 families in the local community and we want to reach more. This position is for someone who wants to make a difference to families in Whitby and the local area.
This role has a number of core duties and are not limited to the list below:
Admin support


  • Manage bookings for the sensory room and meeting room
  • Prepare for events and activities, welcome participants.
  • Manage storage/literature/stall and community fundraising items.
  • Manage, book and promote the activities calendar and seeing them through to completion
  • Data capture and managing follow up and responses to all enquiries
  • Filing and administrative tasks
  • Updating grants and membership databases
  • Assist the Office Supervisor with invoices and finances

Fundraising:


WHISH is a charity, and we are always looking for ways to raise funds so we can deliver the charity objectives.

You will be expected to be proactive in fundraising and volunteer management.


This includes:

  • Contacting local businesses to ask for donations/have a collection box/hold a raffle
  • You will help mobilise, organise and maintain a volunteer group that can help in all our fundraising endeavours
  • Build strong relationships with volunteers, members of the public, schools, trustees, business owners and local media
  • Organise local coffee mornings, raffles, jumble sales, book sales and manage sales of online goods in aid of WHISH
  • Organise and manage stalls and attendance at local events
  • Help communicate the work of WHISH through online social media Twitter/Instagram/FB and traditional routes like print press and radio interviews
  • Look for fundraising opportunities and keep abreast of all free information to help support WHISH
  • Manage website donations
Grants

Grants funding is our biggest source of income and therefore additional administrative support is needed to keep this effective.

You will be required to assist with:

  • Undertake grant research
  • Review parallel organisations
  • Keep abreast of all new grants by accessing all free online grant newsletters, monitor other charity communications and access free online grant databases
