Hawkhurst Parish Council is seeking to appoint a new
Administrative Assistant who will be responsible for all aspects of Hawkhurst Parish Council administration.

About us
Hawkhurst Parish Council has 13 councillors representing around 5,000 residents.
The Parish Council plays a vital part in representing the interests of residents and the communities we serve and improving the quality of life in the parish.
The role
As the Administrative Assistant you will assist the Parish Clerk and Deputy Clerk to implement the administrative aspects of Council functions, duties and decisions as directed by the Parish Clerk.
What you will be doing
As our Administrative Assistant, you will be the first point of contact for telephone and general queries and will meet and greet our visitors to the parish office.
This is a varied role and you will be required to manage all aspects of the Council's administration,which will include some finance in collaboration with the RFO, allotment management, parish events, updating the parish website and social media platforms, cemetery management and assist with the preparation of tender documents as required in liaison withrelevant Councillors, Parish Clerk and RFO/Deputy Clerk.
The Administration Assistant will manage the diary for Council meetings, sending out invitations and assist with assembling/preparation of documents and agendas for Council meetings.
About you
Working with Councillors, office colleagues and dealing with residents in a local government setting or similar is integral to everything we do so experience and strong interpersonal skills are key to the successful delivery of the Council's objectives.
You will have demonstrable experience of the successful delivery of work objectives, in an administrative capacity or similar in local government or similar public organisation.

Substantial up to date knowledge of administrative functions and associated statutory responsibilities with a clear understanding of local government serviceadministration and administrative aspects of general budget and resource management are critical to achieving role objectives.
