Planner / Buyer - Full Time Permanent

Steel moulds for Precast Concert Products, Lazer cutting and sheet metal fabrication work, Precision CNC Machining and Product Assembly.

Job Summary - Responsibilities and Duties

  • Ensure that formal and uptodate contracts of trading are in place with all key suppliers
  • Run a monthly report showing variances against budget cost standards for key areas of spend together with associated plans to rectify any areas of underrecovery
  • Utilise monthly production forecasts and MRP system, to replenish future business needs in terms materials, components and consumables
  • Develop formal department buying strategies, that develop a deep understanding of each area of key spend, together with associated short, medium, and longterm proposed procurement plans
  • Deliver an efficient Kanban ordering system
  • Attend planning meetings and update on required actions as needed
  • Develop risk management strategies, with supporting action plans, to minimise any adverse business impact due to supply chain issues
  • Lead regular efficient stock take activities
  • Lead buying administrators and stock controllers to deliver a Plan for every part required

Person Specification:

  • Previous experience of launching a purchasing function from the ground up or leading a change in supply chain activities that greatly stabilised the purchasing function essential
  • Experience in a similar role within the manufacturing Industry essential
  • Excellent organisational and time management skill with the ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines essential
  • Experienced in importing raw materials desirable
  • Excellent Excel Skills essential
  • Ability to work well on your own and be able to use own initiative essential
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills essential
  • Ability to plan work and prioritise tasks with a high sense of urgency essential
  • Comfortable working with people at all levels essential
Ability to delegate tasks and ensure the full team stays within pre-set rules and limits for purchasing - essential


Salary:
£25,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
