The opportunity

Project:

Mace is seeking to appoint an experienced construction manager to plan, direct, manage and oversee implementation of construction projects to ensure the client goals and objectives are accomplished within prescribed schedule, budget and defined health, safety and quality parameters.

Effective communication with client, contractor and sub-contractors, consultants, management of client and project stake holders is required.


The role will direct the construction teams, provide internal and external coordination and collaboration, and working with the wider construction delivery team to ensure safe operations throughout the construction, commissioning and handover phases.

Ensuring safe and high-quality construction methodologies are carried out by the main mechanical contractor, as well as being coordinated with other trades on site, are the key requirements of this role.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Being responsible for delivery of the allocated package of work to baseline schedule/cost and performance in line with project and business success criteria.
  • Directing the contractors on their roles and responsibilities with regard health, safety, security, environment and quality policies and procedures as required within the project.
  • Assisting with governance arrangements for the delivery of the project.
  • Overseeing and directing construction activities from conception to completion.
  • Being responsible for controlling and monitoring the programme and providing progress updates to the project manager on a regular basis, advising of any issues impacting on delivery.
  • Overseeing all onsite and offsite construction to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations, and other client or regulatory requirements as necessary.
  • Reviewing the work progress on a daily basis.
  • Preparing internal and external reports pertaining to job status.
  • Planning ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones.
  • Being responsible for managing third party suppliers to achieve the desired programme outcomes.
  • Assisting with the identification and monitoring of project risks, planning and implementing response to these and responding to other issues that affect the project.
  • Ensuring quality construction standards and use of proper construction techniques.
  • Ensuring that all work is executed as per the approved drawings and in line with drawing/amendments issued from time to time.
  • Planning and directing site activities to mitigate delays and manage multiple schedules. This includes managing the dependencies associated with the package of work and identifying external dependencies on other projects, resource or environments.
  • Reviewing and validating as built drawings with respect to works executed submitted by contractors on site.
  • Supporting the commissioning manager in delivering all commissioning activities with input from client, contractor and other stakeholders as required.
  • Being responsible for forming and managing effective relationships with project stakeholders.
