UNDERWRITING ASSISTANT - Kent - Office based - to £25-30K
The Underwriting Assistant supports the underwriting teams in writing businessfor the capacity providers, and other stakeholders.
Responsible for the administration of risks, capturing risk data in the administration system, preparing renewal and quoteinformation and any other tasks that support the underwriters in the underwriting process.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe major areas of activity undertaken by the Underwriting Assistant include, but are not limited to:
- Preparing quote information
- Inputting risk data into the underwriting system at all stages of the risk assessment and underwriting process
- Maintaining underwriting documentation and information records
- Preparing renewal information for underwriters and issuing renewal notices
- Chasing outstanding premiums
- Distributing underwriting reports to stakeholders
- Requesting missing information from brokers
- Ensuring all underwriting support tasks are carried out in a timely manner
- Engaging with underwriters to develop and enhance workflows and processes
- Continuous improvement of the underwriting administration process
Underwriting
- Processing of New Business, Renewals and Mid-Term Adjustments
- Maintaining underwriting documentation and information records
- Complete sanctions check
- Complete flood and virtual site checks on all property risks via multiple systems
- Produce and complete the Property Underwriting file checklist.
- Ensure electronic files are created for Property & Terrorism underwriters
- Issuing renewal notices
- Chase brokers for various underwriting information
- Maintaining a dairy system for chasing of outstanding underwriter info required from brokers
- Creating and monitoring multi asset risk rating via excel spreadsheets
- Log all quotes and declinatures
- Produce policy documentation
- Assist Underwriters reporting
- Assist in preparation of all binder renewals
- Conduct regular file audits to ensure compliance with Binding Authorities and business has been placed to the correct binders
- An understanding of the underwriting process
- An understanding of the operation of the (re)insurance markets and Terrorism sector
- Knowledge of market wordings and clauses
- Strong client liaison and business development skills
- Strong interpersonal skill
- Strong skills in Excel and Microsoft office
- General knowledge of business operations and administration
- Negotiation skills
- Educated to A level or equivalent
- CII qualification or willingness to complete
