The Opportunity.


The purpose of this role is to deliver social media communications for the UKIMEA region underpinned by an annual plan reflecting Arup's global strategy, our regional plan and our marketing and communications objectives.


The social media plan and its day-to-day delivery will focus on improving engagement rates with key target audiences, including Arup's current and potential clients, prospective recruits and key industry influencers.


The Social Media Specialist will develop an annual social media plan that reflects Arup's UKIMEA priority clients, work winning priorities, marketing and communications objectives, and messaging framework and utilises both region and global channels.


You will manage the day-to-day delivery of our regional social activity in line with the social media plan, working closely with marketers, colleagues from the PR and internal communications teams, and visual communications experts to develop impactful content and messages, and line manage one social media coordinator, boost them in development and career aspirations.

You will also develop, execute and manage paid social media campaigns (primarily through LinkedIn) that enhance Arup's UKIMEA positioning and work winning priorities.


The Social Media Specialist will work closely with the PR team to and to identify and manage any reputational issues and report at regular established intervals on the performance of our regional social channel and the impact of any recently implemented changes.

Is this role right for you?

We are looking for people who:

  • Have experience of forward planning and daily delivery of an organisation's social media communications, with strong skills in effective prioritisation with the ability to advance the impact of an organisation's social media communications over time.
  • Have the ability to react quickly to emerging opportunities and translate these into compelling and social media content.
  • A creative and skilful flair for translating complex topics into accessible and meaningful content that reflects the brand and the audience requirements.
  • Strong English grammar and usage skills combined with an agile and accurate approach to social copywriting and editing.
  • Experience of reporting on social media impact (using both quantitative and qualitative methods) and a good understanding of established and emerging analytical tools.
  • Experience of issues management in a social media context and evidence of managing adoption of new social functionality and/or platforms to support improvements in an organisation's overall use of social media.
