Seven Resourcing is working with Birmingham City Council to recruit for a Parks Service Manager.

£14.83 per hour PAYE.

Initial 3 month contract.


Job Purpose:

To manage the District Parks Management Team to provide the Public Face of the Parks Service.

To co-ordinate, and deliver the primary Parks client role in liaison with key stake holders and direct the Parks operational services to reflect priorities including,Parks Development, Capital and Asset Planning, Play, Ranger Services, and to work with strategic services such as Waste Management and Sport to integrate service delivery and maximise positive outcomes.


Duties:


  • To liaise with customers and stakeholders, providing a service to local districts and relevant committees in respect of parks management, grounds maintenance and parks services, including attendance at meetings and enable effective liaison between thecustomer and Parks Management.
  • To respond to enquiries and provide information in a professional manner to ensure queries from MP's, councillors and members of the public are responded to within target times and dealt with efficiently.
  • To provide direction for the parks Service through consultation with stakeholders. This role entails the co-ordination and direction of the function to ensure a consistent approach Citywide and to represent Birmingham Parks at a local or national levelas necessary.
  • To pro-actively improve customer satisfaction in relation to Parks and Open Spaces and act upon responses to consultation and engagement exercises.
  • To actively work with the Contracts & Asset Management Manager on the tree contracts, grounds maintenance and horticultural management of public open space, with a view to reducing grounds maintenance costs.
  • To act as a client for the refurbishment of parks and public open space, in conjunction with District Parks Managers and user groups, in a consistent way as detailed in service plans, parks policies and linking with the service asset, capital and maintenanceplans.
  • To liaise with other client groups (e.g. Cemeteries, Housing, Highways and other SLA groups on parks management issues and to secure external funding bids (SRB, Lottery etc) wherever appropriate.
  • To manage the wider Use of Parks, including the organisation of events, commercial requests and community use of parks in liaison with all relevant parties. Direct the Park Manager and other staff to support this function.
  • To manage and explore quality awards that increase reputational standing for the service, locally, and nationally, such as Green Flag, In-Bloom and any other appropriate national standards.
  • To liaise with the Landscape Practice Group (LPG) in preparing landscape projects in line with service priorities and ensure the inclusion of long-term grounds maintenance implications of such projects in the grounds maintenance contracts.
  • To liaise with user/community groups such as Friends of Parks groups, Consultative Committees etc and ensure the Customer Service Excellence model or other quality system is embedded into the parks service.
  • To produce an annual service plans and input into the annual report promoting the Parks Service.
  • To contribute towards the Service Capital and Asset Management programme in liaison with SMT colleagues.

Experience:


  • Managing office environment, ordering goods, managing finances.
  • Experience of dealing with day to day employment issues ie authorising leave, briefing staff on current issues, sickness absence, and compliance with HR policies.
  • Experience in managing a team, delegating work and prioritising team commitments.
  • Experience in operational management

Compliance:
Up to date Passport.


Travel:
Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.


Hours:37 hours p/w.
