This is an exciting opportunity for an advanced practitioner to join the stem cell transplant and immune effector cell team at the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre.


The post holder will be a skilled, autonomous practitioner working as a core member of the multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality care to patients.

They will possess the skills, competence, expertise and clinical decision making abilities required to plan, co-ordinate and prescribe treatment for patients receiving stem cell therapy at Bristol Haematology Unit.


They will be working in the outpatient and day unit settings, establishing the delivery of ambulatory conditioning therapy and supportive care for patients undergoing autografts for myeloma, reduced intensity conditioned allogeneic stem cell transplants, immune effector cells and providing continuity of care post-transplant.

The post holder will be actively involved in leading the development and shaping the structure of ambulatory BMT care and advanced clinical practice within BHOC

  • Providing advanced clinical practice for patients undergoing stem cell therapy, delivered with autonomy of decision making and therapeutic action
  • Assisting in the delivering of an ambulatory conditioning therapy clinic for autologous, immune effector cell and reduced intensity allogeneic stem cell transplant patients
  • Facilitating and delivering education, training and clinical leadership for the advancement of clinical practice
  • Promoting high quality evidenced based practice within their caseload and the achievement of development, research and audit goals throughout the speciality
  • Working closely with lead clinicians and matrons to advance BMT patient care, championing the continuing modernisation of the service, in line with the NHS Plan
  • Taking a leadership role in the Quality Meeting and JACIE accreditation process; cochairing the service with a named BMT Consultant.
  • Acting as a role model and highly competent practitioner whilst facilitating development of all staff within the team
  • Promoting an innovative and progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through research and evidence based practice
  • Develop your skills in mentorship and work based assessment in order to be able to mentor and assess trainee APs in the future.
  • Identify and utilise opportunities to educate patients and their carers on aspects of health promotion across the spectrum of BMT/ Haematology health issues
