The University of Reading has been awarded a £0.9 million two-year project entitled "Realigning UK Food Production and Trade for Transition to Healthy and Sustainable Diets" by the BBSRC under the UKRI Transforming UK Food Systems SPF programme.
The Principal Investigator (PI) of the Project is Prof C.S.Srinivasan in the Department of Agri-Food Economics and Marketing, School of Agriculture, Policy and Development.
Other project partners include the School of Law, University of Reading, Cranfield University, AgriFood and Bioscience Institute, Northern Ireland and the University of Kent.
We are seeking to recruit a Post Doctoral Research Associate to provide research assistance to the PI and other University of Reading Co-Investigators on the project for implementation of Work Packages 1 and 5 of the project.
Work package 1 covers the econometric modelling of the consumer transition to healthy diets, assessing environmental impacts of the shift to healthier diets and choice experiments on consumer food baskets in response to fiscal or other stimuli.
Work Package 5 covers potential industry-led initiatives to support the transition to healthy and sustainable diets and assessment of consumer responses to these initiatives using discrete choice methods.
You will have:
- Strong skills for economic analysis and econometric modelling.
- Good skills in the assembly and management of largescale secondary data sets.
- Good skills in the use of relevant econometric software (R/STATA/Python).
- Good skills in conduct of consumer surveys using online survey platforms such as Qualtrics.
- Ability to manage own time effectively across multiple tasks and tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- Experience of writing and publishing academic papers and research outputs.
