The Department of Design, Manufacturing and Engineering Management (DMEM) within the Faculty of Engineering is seeking to appoint an Administrative Assistant to work collaboratively as part of the administrative team.

DMEM is an innovative Department with ambitious targets for growth across all of its areas of business. The Administrative Assistant will support all departmental operational activities in support of teaching, research and knowledge exchange. Operational excellence is a cross-cutting theme of the University's Strategic Plan Vision 2025, with the University's priorities.

Providing strong administrative support to deliver high levels of customer service are crucial to the success of all aspects of the Department's activities.


The Department of Design, Manufacturing and Engineering Management (DMEM) provides a unique offering combining end-to-end multidisciplinary expertise from creative design, through to engineering design, manufacturing and engineering management of the entire system.

DMEM also houses the UK's Advanced Forming Research Centre (AFRC), which is located off-campus at a dedicated site just outside Glasgow and is part of the UK's High Value Manufacturing Catapult and the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS).

We operate substantial and well-established collaborations with academic and industrial partners throughout the world.

With more than 150 staff and more than 80 Postgraduate Research (PGR) students both PhD and EngD, and more than 650 students from over 30 nations, we are a vibrant, international community.

To be considered for the role, you will be educated to Higher grade level, or have sufficient experience in a similar role.

You will have experience of working in a busy, client facing administrative environment and you will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with a range of stakeholders.

You will be IT literate with experience of Microsoft Office packages and you will have strong organisational skills, with the ability to work to deadlines.

Due to the customer-facing nature of this role, it is essential that you have a friendly, helpful and courteous disposition and a willingness to learn.

Most importantly, you will have good team working skills.
