Sponsored by the Department for Education, CITB is the industry training board for the construction sector in Great Britain.

Based in Peterborough, with an income of around £250 million and 670 employees, their purpose is to help the construction industryattract and develop talent for now and tomorrow.

As the world of construction changes so must CITB. They need a curious, daring, and creative People Director to transform their people and culture function. CITB has an ambitious vision for construction skills and training. This is a new era with a new simplifiedlook and feel.

The People Director will have a key role in future proofing CITB and the construction industry.

CITB is immensely proud of the huge role it plays in the construction industry, helping to inspire a generation of change makers to help prepare for a net zerofuture, increase diversity, raise mental health awareness, and solve the construction skills gap crisis.


The People Director must understand what's not important to keep CITB focused on their strategic people agenda and be brimming with ideas to keep them relevant and an employer of choice.


What you'll do


Are you curious, bold, and persuasive? Do you turn every problem into an opportunity? The People Director will be responsible for all things people and culture In this role you will help shape a culture of trust; where colleagues feel proud to be themselves,engaged, valued, and perform at their best.


You'll lead organisational people priorities and strategic change programmes, whilst continuing to establish an efficient and effective HR Service model.

This will include holding a critical lens up to existing systems and processes to ensure the foundationsare strong enough for the bigger picture stuff.


The People Director has an internal and external voice as people lead for the RemCo committee and representing CITB on external committees.

You will own the evolving People Strategy and continuously look for ways for smarter working, beyond HR operations,and driving value back to the business.

The CEO is seeking a People Director who is a creative and inspirational leader, with a shared passion to place people at the heart of CITB.

Together you will _"lift our thinking, inspire the most able, and reawaken the talent we have within our teams". _


You will be a values-driven, modern People Director and will bring a fresh perspective on delivering HR strategy, whilst leveraging employee experience and technology.


No doubt you will tick all the technical boxes of an experienced HR director or aspiring Head of HR seeking their first Director role.

With a successful track record of developing teams and strategic leadership, you will be hugely commercial yet comfortablein a regulated environment and proven at supporting disparate teams across multiple locations.

Sound UK Employment Law knowledge is essential, and experience working with unions could be useful.

You are someone who people listen to.

With a progressive and collaborative approach, you will have the ability to shape and challenge the Board's thinking to deliver the best outcomes for its people and to develop more robust systems to better serve thebusiness.
