This post presents an exciting opportunity to join a large, well-established and very successful research team.The team consist of 60 staff including 5 Consultants, plus a team of Research Nurses, Trial Administrators, Clinical Fellows and secretarial staff.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced individual to join our team, working with colleagues to provide secretarial and administrative support to the Experimental Cancer Medicine Team.
The post holder will need to be flexible with excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to demonstrate experience of working in a busy environment.
Closely liaise with Central Registration to ensure new patient referrals are registered on Medway, triaged and subsequently appointed in accordance with clinical instructions.

The Christie is one of Europe's leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year.
We are based in Manchester and serve a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester & Cheshire, but as a national specialist around 15% patients are referred to us from other parts of the country.
We provide radiotherapy through one of the largest radiotherapy departments in the world; chemotherapy on site and through 14 other hospitals; highly specialist surgery for complex and rare cancer; and a wide range of support and diagnostic services.
We run one of the largest early clinical trial units in Europe with over 300 trials every year.
Cancer research in Manchester, most of which is undertaken on the Christie site, has been officially ranked the best in the UK.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Closely liaise with Central Registration to ensure new patient referrals are registered on
Liaise with PA/Medical Secretary to ensure accurate booking of clinical appointments for
both new and review patients.
- Book appointments, liaising with Schedulers as appropriate ensuring appointments are
- Contribute to the compliance of all patient pathway targets.
- Working closely with the clinicians, manage clinic templates including amending
streams and adding ad hoc or new clinics onto the Patient Administration System
(Medway).
- Ensure accurate input of patient details when entering data onto information databases
tracking system.
- Ensure all relevant information is available to multidisciplinary meetings for your team.
- Deal professionally with telephone calls from relative/patients which can be emotional
- Liaising with staff at all levels both internally and externally, answering written and verbal
further reference.
- Audio typing support for Medical Secretaries.
- Provide information required to support investigation of litigation cases.
- Provide statistical information to the Information Department as required.
- Delegate to clerical team members to ensure relevant paperwork is available for clinic
- Contribute to the training of new members of staff with a given area as required.
- Work with clinicians, nurses, managers and administrative staff to review working
