Monday - Friday Term, term time plus one week, 37.5 hours per week


We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed teaching assistant with great energy, passion and a relentless focus on high standards.


As part of the United Learning Trust, Abbey Hey Academy is a larger than average sized primary school situated in the heart of Gorton, a suburb of East Manchester.

The school serves a vibrant and diverse community of learners, with 660 fantastic children from Nursery to Year 6.

We are looking to appoint a teaching assistant who shares our passion for learning.

We are looking for a teaching assistant who is/has:

  • Enthusiastic, dynamic, with a strong understanding of teaching, learning and assessment;
  • Tolerant and compassionate nature with a sense of humour and a good degree of flexibility
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Grade A-C in Maths and English at GCSE
  • Committed to ongoing professional development and engaging in research based teaching methods;
  • Innovative and creative in their approach to teaching and learning;
  • Committed to putting children's education at the centre of everything that happens in the school;
  • Determined to make a difference;
  • Willing and able to contribute to the wider school community.
  • Able to support the creation of a creative, nurturing and exciting learning environment
  • Are able to communicate effectively and professionally with children, parents, staff, governors and the wider community;
  • Effective behaviour management skills;
