Description

About the role:

The National Centre for Earth Observation (NCEO) is a distributed research centre with over 100 scientists from universities and research organisations in the UK.

Hosted by the University of Leicester at Space Park Leicester, the NCEO provides long-term strategic research in environmental science using data from satellites and, airborne and ground instruments.

We are keen and committed to attract the best of scientists to carry Earth Observation Science into the future.

We fully acknowledge the field of Earth Observation is fairly new and therefore may appear inaccessible to those who may not know much about what we do, how to access careers in the field, and the many opportunities in the growing space sector.

We are therefore looking to recruit an Outreach officer to devise and implement a 1-year outreach plan in line with our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion goals.

The post-holder will support us in attracting and developing a pipeline of future talent by devising a targeted outreach plan utilising UK-wide schemes and NCEO's unique geography, supporting colleagues to build inclusively on our existing outreach, and delivering activities UK-wide.

They will experience national outreach programmes at first hand by, for example, working with the National Space Academy and supporting the Association of Science and Discovery Centres' "Our World from Space" programme.
