Description

Essential qualifications:

  • A PhD or MS in Phycology/Microbiology/Synthetic Biology or similar areas and/or considerable experience working in the area of molecular microbiology or phycology.
  • Published peer review work in above mentioned scientific areas.
  • Ability to think innovatively and develop novel strategies to alter desired traits in algae via targeted genetic manipulations.
  • Ensure transformation and phenotyping of strains are conducted in a timely and organised manner, and meticulous records of clones and strains are maintained.
  • Responsible for day-to-day co-ordination of your lab activities with other lab members such as planning, execution and analysis of experiments.
  • Ability to communicate and work with others team members like engineers, management etc. in developing innovative and cost-effective methods in upstream and downstream processes.

Desired skills:

  • Experience working with CRISPR is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience of working in industry and/or with industry-led projects.
  • Cultivation of microalgae at lab and pilot scales.
  • Experience guiding interns or other graduate students.

£30,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
