We are currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client's team based in Halesowen, West Midlands.

The successful Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the design of pipelines, inclusive of supporting steelwork and will be workingas part of a team involved in various projects, from initial design to site completion.

Hours of work: Monday to Friday: 8:00am to 4:30pm (40 hours)

Responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Engineer

To develop a design solution that is compliant with all relevant Client Specifications and British Standards
To eliminate, reduce or control foreseeable risks that may arise during installation, maintenance and operation when preparing or modifying designs
To ensure that site conditions are considered in terms of access and ease of installation
To produce fabrication drawings, complete with BOMs, once models are approved for construction
To produce detailed installation drawings that will act as guidance for site teams
To attend meetings with Clients (both onsite and via Teams) to advise on technical aspects and develop an acceptable design solution
To maintain drawing registers and other internal documentation, ensuring that files are saved and issued correctly
To regularly check client portal for revised information and transfer it to internal servers
To modify designs and manage change throughout the project lifetime as per client's comments, variations and site modifications. Both internal and external approvals to be obtained as required
To establish and maintain a positive working relationship with the client, addressing any queries that they may have, suggesting alternative design solutions and installation methodology, adding value throughout the lifetime of the project
To report to Project Managers and Project Engineers, advising of any variance between designs and tenders
To provide technical assistance to site, tendering and project teams where required

The Successful Mechanical Design Engineer

BSc or BEng in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline (applicants with HNC or equivalent will also be considered)
Experience designing pipework and/or associated equipment
Experience within the water industry. Food/Oil & Gas/Petrochem experience is also considered
Comfortable reading P&IDs and working from other client design documentation
Good working knowledge of AutoCAD. Preparing clients' DWG models for import to Solidworks such as removal of unnecessary items and moving to and from world coordinates
Experience with FEA, or basic hand calculations (desirable but not essential)
Good working Knowledge of Solidworks. (Routing and weldments are a core part of site design. Highly desired)
Experience using client portals for receiving information and submitting
The ability to adapt and work within a fastpaced environment
