Description
The Division of Health Research (DHR) within Lancaster University's Faculty of Health and Medicine is seeking to appoint a Senior Research Associate/Research Associate, to work as part of the International Observatory on End of Life Care.
The post holder will play a key role in supporting research associated with the Dowager Countess Eleanor Peel Trust (DCEPT) Sir Robert Boyd Fellowship, awarded to Dr Danni Collingridge Moore.
The research aims to explore how policy recommendations for managing pandemics can be developed and implemented successfully in care homes, and how the effect of such recommendations can be measured and monitored.
The research is funded by Dowager Countess Eleanor Peel Trust (DCEPT).The fellowship is titled 'Living and dying in care homes during the COVID-19 pandemic: what worked well and why?'.
The research programme has three stages:
a scoping review, case studies of care homes and a transparent expert consultation.
In stage one, a scoping review of policy recommendations issued during the pandemic will explore the aims of the recommendations, their implementation, and how the intended effects of such recommendations were measured.
In stage two, six to eight care homes identified as having managed relatively well or relatively poorly during the pandemic, in terms of infections, outbreaks, hospital admissions, deaths and staff absences will be used as organisational case studies.
In stage three, the findings of the previous two stages will be combined and fed into a transparent expert consultation.
You must have a Masters qualification (G6) or a PhD qualification (G7) in a relevant discipline, experience of conducting qualitative interviews and analysing qualitative data.

You will join us on an indefinite contract however the role remains contingent on external funding which at this time is due to come to an end on 28th February 2025.
