I am delighted that you are interested in joining their team as Deputy Director of Global Trade and Investment (GTI), Deputy Director of Public Sector or Deputy Directorof Economic and Microdata Insights in the Macroeconomic & Environment Statistics and Analysis Directorate, part of the Economic Statistics & Environment Group.


They are seeking inspirational leaders and creative problem solvers, with strong analytical and strategic skills, demonstrated experience in senior stakeholder engagement, and team players who can work with colleagues within and outside of theirs to succeed.

Deputy Director, Public Sector Division


The Public Sector (PS) Division employs between 80 and 100 staff, and is part of the Macroeconomic and Environment Statistics and Analysis (MESA) Directorate.


The Division produces the monthly Public Sector Finances release and plays a key role in the production of UK GDP statistics: estimating the contribution of government and other public services to the National Accounts.

The division is responsible the EconomicStatistics Classification process and so plays an important, cross-cutting role ensuring that economic developments are appropriate and consistent treatment across them.

The division is also responsible for a number of international statistical transmissionsto the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

Public Sector Division is also undertaking an ambitious and considerable transformation programme during this Spending Review period (to This includes a significant investment in their IT systems, work to deliver new and more granular fiscal statisticsand research to examine the feasibility of using administrative data to improve the quality of their outputs.

The Division is actively collaborating with the Data Science Campus and Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC); it has secondedstaff to HM Treasury and is working closely with internal colleagues in their Digital Services and Technology and Business Architecture divisions.
