You are passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and want to make a meaningful difference in their lives. We work closely with inclusive and vibrant SEN schools across Preston, each committed to providing a nurturing environment for all students.

    About the Role:

We seek an enthusiastic and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant to work closely with children who have a range of special educational needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, and social-emotional challenges.

The ideal candidate has experience working with children or adults, not necessarily in an educational setting. You must have a caring, patient approach to learning, be able to build trusting relationships, communicate effectively, and bring positivity to every challenge.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Work 1:1 or in small groups with students, providing tailored support based on individual needs
    • Assist with planning and delivering engaging, sensory-based learning activities
    • Support the class teacher in creating an inclusive, safe, and stimulating classroom environment
    • Foster positive social interactions and emotional development, ensuring each child feels valued and supported
    • Use communication aids and strategies to help students develop language and interaction skills
    • Help with personal care needs as required, always promoting independence and dignity

    Requirements:

    • Experience working with primary-aged children with SEN (preferred)
    • Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or similar (desirable)
    • Strong communication and teamwork skills
    • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see our website for details.

This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance 'Keeping Children Safe in Education' and offer free child protection and prevent duty training to all registered candidates.
