We have recently announced the creation of Pilgrim's Shared Services, a fourth stand-alone company, which will bring together some of the support functions of our current three businesses (Moy Park, excluding France and Netherlands, Pilgrim's UK & Pilgrim's Food Masters).

Its purpose is to deliver a high-quality shared service to those three businesses.


As the business grows, this shared service will broaden opportunities for career development as part of a far larger organisation.

We will also continue our investment in technology to drive efficiencies and improved ways of working.

This is a newly created role reporting to the

IT Infrastructure Manager, we are pleased to advise that we are now recruiting for an

Database Administrator

Main Duties & Responsibilities:The Database Administrator will be working across a primarily Microsoft SQL environment liaising with multiple areas of the business to support, design, evaluate, build, deliver and maintain the provision of a performant and secure SQL environment. They will be responsible for providing specialist technical support and expertise across Pilgrim's Europe SQL environment for both on-prem and cloud. To provide specialist technology expertise and be the escalation point across the Database team, including technical ownership and management of high priority incidents and problem records.

  • Be responsible for maintaining and proactively managing the portfolio of IT Solutions
  • Provide Incident and Problem management support.
  • Perform problem identification and root cause analysis for complex issues.
  • Perform regular health checks identifying and recommending any potential service improvements
  • Participation and engagement in Projects/Service improvements impacting Infrastructure Services.
  • Identification ownership and implementation of proactive maintenance plans including essential upgrades and software patches.
  • Monitor and review service performance at a component level e.g. Application Server, production of reports including recommendations for risk mitigation.
  • 3rd party/vendor liaison with respect to technical support, build and maintenance.
  • Meet levels of service in line with published/agreed SLA's.
  • Adherence to all Pilgrim's UK processes including:
  • Raising, reviewing and approval of Change Controls.
- o Identify, investigate, update and resolve problem records.
- o Ensuring the configuration management database is maintained.
- o Ensuring that technology implemented is supportable and maintainable.
- o To ensure supporting documentation is maintained in line with improvements and maintenance activities.

  • Provision of out of hours support including participation in an oncall/standby rota. (as per direction from line manager)
  • Able to work unsocial hours when required which may include short durations away from home
  • To provide technical guidance to colleagues.

What You'll Need

  • Experience in a support/delivery role in a medium to large organisation, with significant technical delivery/support responsibility.
  • Technical knowledge/specialism of the following technologies to "Expert" level:
  • _Database Server Security Patch Management_
- _Experience in Database Access Management_
- _Experience in Microsoft SQL Server DBA_
- _Experience in MS SQL Server Administration_
- _Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO)_
- _Experience with backups, restores and recovery models_
- _Experience of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery_
