Do you have experience in facilities maintenance looking to join a friendly and collaborative engineering company in Portsmouth?


If so, we are looking for a Facilities Maintenance Assistant to support our current Facilities Maintenance Lead and our ambitious team at TPG Maritime Ltd in Portsmouth.

As our Facilities Maintenance Assistant, you will be undertaking maintenance and defective repairs work at our busy production site.

The role is a part time position, initially on a 6-month fixed term contract. Either mornings 4/5 days a week or a specified number of days - approximately 20-25 hours per week.


At TPG Maritime, we specialise in the design and manufacture of atmospheric control systems for the defence industry and are part of the wider Science Group, an international science, engineering and technology ("SET") business listed on AIM stock market.


Your role as our Facilities Maintenance Assistant:

  • Support the facilities team in liaising and collaborating with the departments and wider teams where work is to be undertaken.
  • Assist the Facilities Lead in coordinating, arranging and directing external contractors as may be required in line with the site maintenance schedule plan and arising works / improvements as needed.
  • Ensure all bins in the workshop area is to be emptied on a regular basis.
  • Distribution of clean overalls and collection of soiled overalls. Laundry to be left ready for collection.
  • Collection of confidential wastepaper sacks for shredding and stowage in setaside area, as required.
  • General upkeep of the building.
  • Conduct minor maintenance tasks.
  • To deal with small, general items of repair and maintenance in the interior and exterior of the building: e.g. putting up shelves, changing light bulbs, moving furniture. Carrying out routine checks, repairs and maintenance of the exterior of the building where appropriate.
  • To deal with blocked sewers and drains, including unblocking sinks.
  • Contact point for external contractors providing building facilities e.g. Waste collection and site services
  • Deputise and act as point of contact for facilities matters when the Facilities Lead is unavailable.

About You
To deliver this role you will be required to have the following:

  • Be an excellent communicator at all levels.
  • Have experience in a similar facilities role.
  • Be flexible and adaptable in a constantly evolving and changing environment.
  • Proactive and cando attitude.
