Description

To lead the Waste Team with the delivery of the with Council's waste and recycling contract and with other waste related contractors.

To promote recycling, to run the Council's Bank Sites, to deal with collection issues, to reconcile recycling credits andtonnages, to review waste storage and presentation plans for new housing developments, and to manage the container provisions to households.


  • To lead and support the waste team with the delivery of the Council's waste and recycling contract and with other contractors operating for TDC on recycling and waste.
  • To undertake Contract monitoring, including health and safety monitoring of the contractor and crews.
  • To investigate escalated allocated waste collection problems, Freedom of Information requests and Complaints, liaising with residents and troubleshooting.
  • To attend contract meetings with the contractors.
  • To attend Surrey Environment Partnership (SEP) meetings and working groups as required and actively engage in shared projects and initiatives.
  • To provide copy as required for publications and maintain TDC website content.
  • To be responsible for the production of waste data to comply with requirements by Waste Data Flow, enable recycling claims and recycling figures and rates to be produced.
  • To procure new containers/sacks for the waste and recycling contract and to manage the ordering, deliveries, disposal, and stock control.
  • To attend TDC working groups as required.

The post holder must take all due care in respect of Health and Safety at work and always ensure compliance with the relevant policies and procedures.

Health & Safety:

Managers are responsible for the implementation of the Council's Health & Safety Policy including the conduct and regular review of staff risk assessments, safe systems of work and staff training to ensure that work is carried out ina safe manner.

To attend training and development courses as required to maintain continuous professional development standards and/or to meet personal, departmental or corporate priorities or objectives.

To be aware of the Council's Policy on Risk Management and to notify the departmental risk co-coordinator of any new, emerging, or potential risks.


Data Quality:

To ensure that all necessary data is provided in a timely manner and is fit for purpose in accordance with the Council's Data Quality Strategy.


Other Duties:
To undertake any other duties that may be required which are commensurate with the level of the post.

Full Driving Licence with the use of a car (E)
