Position:
Drama Therapist

Location:

Shalford, Surrey

Pay:
£85-£100 per day (£16,575-19,500 per annum)

Commitment:
Full academic year (2024/25)

New Road Education is thrilled to partner with an Ofsted-rated Outstanding SEN School in Shalford, Surrey, in search of a dedicated Drama Therapist.

This role is perfect for someone who is either qualified in drama therapy or possesses a natural talent for using theatrical techniques to support children's emotional and social development.

You will be supporting children aged 4 to 16, helping them navigate their school day through therapeutic and dramatic interventions.

Performing Arts graduates with an interest in working in education should also apply

Key Responsibilities:

Support and assist students with their confidence in a sometimes daunting world.
Develop and implement drama therapy sessions tailored to the individual needs of students.
Use drama and theatrical techniques to support emotional, social, and cognitive development.
Work closely with teachers, support staff, and parents to monitor and report on student progress.
Create a safe and supportive environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves.
Assist in developing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with specific needs.
Contribute to the overall wellbeing and mental health of the student body.

Requirements:

Qualified drama therapist or demonstrable experience and skill in using drama therapeutically.
Experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs, is highly desirable.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with students.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.
Commitment to upholding the school's ethos and values.
