Position:
Drama Therapist


Location:

Shalford, Surrey


Pay:
£85-£100 per day (£16,575-19,500 per annum)


Commitment:
Full academic year (2024/25)


New Road Education is thrilled to partner with an Ofsted-rated Outstanding SEN School in Shalford, Surrey, in search of a dedicated Drama Therapist.

This role is perfect for someone who is either qualified in drama therapy or possesses a natural talent for using theatrical techniques to support children's emotional and social development.

You will be supporting children aged 4 to 16, helping them navigate their school day through therapeutic and dramatic interventions.

Performing Arts graduates with an interest in working in education should also apply


Key Responsibilities:


  • Support and assist students with their confidence in a sometimes daunting world.
  • Develop and implement drama therapy sessions tailored to the individual needs of students.
  • Use drama and theatrical techniques to support emotional, social, and cognitive development.
  • Work closely with teachers, support staff, and parents to monitor and report on student progress.
  • Create a safe and supportive environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves.
  • Assist in developing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with specific needs.
  • Contribute to the overall wellbeing and mental health of the student body.

Requirements:


  • Qualified drama therapist or demonstrable experience and skill in using drama therapeutically.
  • Experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs, is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with students.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.
  • Commitment to upholding the school's ethos and values.
