Reporting to the Head Chef The Catering Assistant / Kitchen Porter (Pot-Wash) is responsible for the daily cleaning of all kitchen utensils, pots, pans, serving dishes etc, together with kitchen machinery and all floors, walls, fridges, shelving etc in the kitchen, storerooms and food preparation areas.

Occasionally you may be asked to support the Chef with food preparation e.g preparing sandwiches/ salads


Required knowledge & experience:


  • Level 2 food safety certificate.
  • Health & safety procedures including control of substances harmful to health (COSHH)
  • Previous catering experience with knowledge of basic food safety and safe use of knives & kitchen equipment.
  • Experience of working with older people

Required skills:


  • Ability to organize time and prioritise activities.
  • Able to work in a pressured environment.
  • Flexible and able to work as part of a team and individually.
