Senior Cyber Operations Specialist


Are you our next Senior Cyber Operations Specialist? We are looking for someone who can help us redefine what's possible within the cyber operations team and the wider business.


What is the role?


The Senior Cyber Operations Specialist will help to protect Gatwick from any cyber-attacks and cyber events that could impact our operation, stability and/or financial health, and by acting as a point of escalation for the Tier1 & 2 analysts.


We are looking for someone that has experience working within a SOC and has a good level of knowledge about all the cyber controls that are used as part of that function, a broad array of knowledge/experience would be more attractive to us than being an expert in only one area.


What will you do?

  • Acts as escalation point for the Tier1 & 2 analysts
  • Management of the cyber toolsets: including managing health, validating, and enhancing log ingest, defining, developing alerting, aligning alerting to current indicators of attack and industry best practice frameworks
  • Oversee the cyber security impact of IT requests and changes
  • Actively drive the automation of repeatable processes within the SOC
  • Develop the junior analysts though coaching, training, and authoring of technical documentation
  • Define and develop security metrics, dashboards, and reports
  • Representing the Cyber team by engaging with internal and external stakeholders

Do you have what we're looking for?

  • Good experience of working within an IT Operations environment, including change, problem and incident management and response
  • An understanding of developing and working with Cyber Security processes, playbooks, security controls and processes
  • Experience of working within IT Service Management and ticketing systems
  • Proven experience within security toolsets, including EDR, SEG, vulnerability management, SIEM, SOAR and log management tools
  • Experience of managing critical thirdparty service providers helping them with development and improvements into playbooks and processes that impact Gatwick
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to translate cyber specific information to both technical and nontechnical colleagues
  • Ability to listen to people, so that balanced solutions can be found to enhance the security posture whilst not impacting on business operations
  • Ability to offer alternative solutions and a willingness to challenge existing cyber security practices
  • Awareness of the commercial implications of cyber security actions and decisions
  • Willingness to continuously develop your skillset
This role requires you to pass a Counter Terrorist check and Criminal Record Check.

The Counter Terrorist Checks are requested by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and require individuals to have physically lived in the UK (or have been a member of the UK Armed Forces) for the last three years (this criteria applies to all nationalities including British).

We are unable to offer visa sponsorship as part of this role, so you will need to be eligible to live and work in the UK.
