The Role

This role is funded by the UKSPF.
We are looking for a self-motivated, confident, and enthusiastic person to join our Culture and Heritage team.

As the Commercial Events Officer you will need to generate leads, build, and nurture relationships with a range of businesses, organisations, groups and individuals to secure bookings that generate income for the Platform, Storey and Ashton Hall including (but not limited to) live entertainment, conferences, weddings and other celebrations, workshops and events.


You must have event sales experience, ideally within a venue or dealing with events or hospitality business, a proven ability to achieve sales targets, strong negotiation skills and in-depth knowledge of the arts, entertainment, or hospitality industry.


The ability to work accurately and methodically, to prioritise workloads and work to deadlines are all essential as are excellent oral and written communication skills.

This post is temporary until 31st March 2025. The hours of work for this position are 37 per week, working Monday to Friday on a normal week.

However, the ability to work 5 days out of 7 is required to suit the needs of the business, which may include working during evenings, weekends or bank holidays.

The option for hybrid working is available upon discussion.

The Council currently operates an excellent Flexible Working Hours Scheme which applies to this post. Subject to the needs of this business, this may allow employees to work between the hours of 6:00am-10:30pm.
