Description
We are for someone who is a Black birth activist and interested in social justices.

Someone who is passionate about amplifying the voices of Black birthing women, has good leadership skills, actively listens, compassionately communicates, and connects from the heart with volunteers, Black maternal women, and the wider perinatal community.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead the MAC volunteer Steering Group
  • Organise safe spaces for local mums to share their experiences.
  • Develop new resources and communitybased activities in dialogue with the community, and in a way that enables others to lead initiatives.

Event Coordination & Management

  • Identify opportunities and organise engagement activities.
  • Organise training such as Safeguarding and Health and Safety.
  • Contribute to income generation strategy and implementation.
  • Attendee and database management

Project Management

  • Deliver project reporting and evaluation.
  • Effectively manage time and budget for events and sessions
  • Recruit, develop and manage the Maternal Ambassador (MAC) volunteers.
  • Ensure that our MACS have meaningful opportunities to actively contribute to MEA CIC business plan, our values, and our aims for supporting the Black perinatal community for better maternal outcomes.

Administrative Duties

  • Team and MAC meeting attendance and coordination
  • Manage and develop content for all MEA CIC social media such as blogs, IG, Facebook, LinkedIn, website, etc.
  • Build links with other groups and agencies supporting Black maternal wellbeing.
  • Contribute to outcomesbased evaluation, learning and monitoring systems.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrable understanding of the impact of Black perinatal health inequalities to include maternal and infant mortality.
  • Black wellness practices.
  • Engagement with individuals and/or communities: 1 year
  • Working with and supporting volunteers: 1 year
  • Organising and supporting events: 1 year (preferred)
  • Data collection and analysis: 1 year (preferred)
  • Engaging with stakeholders across a variety of levels and audiences.
  • Ability to use imaginative strategies to engage with the Black perinatal community.
  • Ability to work with and relate to the Black perinatal community that may also include diverse and multigenerational communities, with language or cultural differences.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Competent in IT and social media platforms

Job Types:
Part-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 12 months


Salary:
£16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 per week


Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
