Description
This is a substantive consultant paediatrician post, become available due to a retirement. This is a traditional consultant post with no contribution to Tier 2 rota.

The post-holder would be part of a team of 9 consultants providing paediatric and neonatal care in PCH and 2 community paediatricians.

It is expected that the post-holder would provide leadership for diabetes services in PCH, working closely within the existing Cwm Taf Morgannwg diabetes MDT professionals.

Therefore, special interest (SPIN) in diabetes is required. Neonatal experience required to support on-site neonatal services.

At present, all the Consultant Paediatricians in PCH excluding the Community Paediatricians contribute to the non-resident on-call rota and In-patient service week for paediatrics (consultant of the week).

In addition, the 'consultant of the week' model is now implemented for the Neonatal unit. All consultants are expected to contribute to the above stated areas of service requirement.

During the non-resident out of hours, consultants are responsible to provide cover for the General Paediatric ward and Neonatal unit (32 weeks and above model).

Babies requiring continued intensive care / ventilation are retrieved by the Regional Neonatal Transport Team and taken to one of the Tertiary Units in South Wales.

The non-resident Consultant has one tier 1 doctor and two tier 2 doctors providing resident cover.

English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply
