System Safety Engineer - Watchkeeper

The Thales UK Unmanned Air System portfolio is going through an exciting period of capability enhancement and delivery growth for our Defence customer.
We have a vast array of exciting programmes that are at the forefront of each industry, and it will be your role to gather and present compliance evidence for the timely completion of the Safety and Airworthiness activities under the leadership of the UAsProject Safety Manager.
Summary
Responsibilities
Generation and peer review of safety and airworthiness documentation that supports a product safety case; as desirable, independently, or with mínimal supervision, understanding, critical analysis and development of functional failure conditions, deriving,analysing, evidencing and mitigating safety and airworthiness requirements and their associated documents / reports.
Key responsibilities
The following represent some of the elements that may be required in the development and delivery of a safety case - Support the Project Safety Manager and Design Authority in delivering safe capability modifications to the Watchkeeper UAV.
Generation and peer review functional and system level safety case artefacts; eg Functional Description Documents, Particular Risk Analysis, FHAs and FTAs
Organise and host Safety Committee reviews and workshops.
Contribute to Platform level safety case artefacts; eg DSA, SCRS.
Contribute to company and supplier design reviews.
Assessment of applicable Legislation and Standards (STANAG 4702 & 4761, DefStds 00-56 & 00-970, MRP, ARP4761 and 4754)
Analysis of Hazards, Risks and Controls
Review and life-cycle updates of a Hazard Log
Analysis, derivation and management of safety & environmental requirements
Functional Analysis
Assessment of hazardous materials
Safety & Environmental Case Report
Participate on Safety Audits
Experience and Skills
Experience in the engineering industry, combined with product safety experience.
Familiar with UK/EU safety legislation.
Familiar with relevant military/industrial safety and airworthiness standards.
Ideally
Environmental impact analysis and eco-design
Development of military electronic products.
Airworthiness and certification.
'Programmable elements' and safety integrity
