Description

Purpose of position

  • To be based in a busy American diner in Christchurch town centre.
  • To cook & provide good quality meals as per the menu and daily specials.
  • To work as part of a team, working with front of house staff and managers.

Responsibilities

  • To wear correct freshly laundered uniform i.e kitchen whites apron, hat & sensible shoes at all times.
  • Ensure that you maintain a high level of personal cleanliness
  • Ensure that finger nails are kept short and clean free from nail varnish
  • No jewellery to be worn
  • Report illness, however minor to management
  • Do not smoke, eat or chew gum in the kitchen or in uniform
  • Assist in the planning of menus if needed
  • Prepare and serve healthy, nutritious well presented meals for the required time of day
  • Ensure that all ingredients for meals are available. Provide diner manager with information on stock requirements to ensure correct stock levels.
  • Ensure that any left over foods are used correctly/labelled correctly/stored correctly
  • Ensure that the internal storage cupboards are clean, tidy and well arranged
  • Ensure that no food is stored out of date. Rotate stock monthly
  • Ensure that fridge is clean, tidy and that items are stored correctly. Ensure that no out of date food is stored in the fridge. Check all food is covered and dated daily
  • Report immediately any faulty or broken equipment or anything that is missing
  • Report immediately any hazardous circumstances i.e broken tiles
  • Keep control of detergents that are stored in the kitchen, in accordance with COSHH regulations
  • Comply with all Environmental Health regulations
  • Ensure that any food that is received is inspected and dated before storage, delivery procedures followed in accordance with the homes policy and procedures
  • Ensure that fridge/freezer temperatures are recorded as required and report any changes
  • Ensure all current kitchen paperwork is completed at the correct time
  • Operate a clean as you go policy. Daily cleaning as per rota is to be adhered to.
  • Ensure you are up to date with all compulsory training courses
  • Ensure that any food for the menu two days in advance is being defrosted following the company policies and procedures
  • Ensure that all meat is defrosted in the fridge
  • Ensure that any meat received is divided before freezing
  • No meat is to be cooked & reheated
  • Ensure that all ingredients and stock are available for the following week ahead, if not report immediately
  • Ensure that any other members of staff working in the kitchen comply with Environmental health regulations
  • Ensure that the kitchen is inspected daily and report any hazards
  • Ensure that everybody using the kitchen adheres to the company rules
  • Assist in the planning of menus if needed

Salary:
£10.50-£12.50 per hour
