Job advert - Communications Advisor

The organisation
Article 36 is a specialist non-profit organisation, focused on reducing harm from weapons. A small and
effective team, we work together with civil society partners and governments to develop new policies
and legal standards to prevent civilian harm from existing and emerging weapons.
Article 36 also provides coordination for international civil society coalitions and initiatives, including
the International Network on Explosive Weapons (INEW) and the Explosive Weapons Monitor,
working to prevent human suffering from the use of explosive weapons in populated areas.


Communications Advisor
Article 36 is looking for a full-time Communications Advisor to oversee the communications activities
and outputs for the organisation.


The primary role will be:

  • To ensure regular, quality communications outputs on our communications platforms including
websites, social media platforms, newsletters, occasional media outreach, and ongoing
external communication;

  • To develop engaging content that communicates human stories and humanitarian impacts of
explosive weapon use, key policy recommendations and the activities and impact of our
network's advocacy;

  • To support internal communications and media outreach and events.
The position will be UK based, working from home with possibilities to travel.

Weapons and armed violence often disproportionately affect marginalised groups who continue to be
under-represented in international policymaking; these groups include black people and other people
of colour, women, LGBTQ+ people, people with disabilities and people of different faiths and beliefs.
