Generate has been creating opportunities and offering support to people with a learning disability since 1972.

We are committed to improving the lives of people with a learning disability by supporting and encouraging them in a creative way to access opportunities in their communities, take their place as citizens and reduce their reliance on services.


In addition to our youth and community services targeted at people with a learning disability, we also provide an Access to Work service.

We work on delivering one-to-one employment support workers and Job Coaching staff across London to individuals with a range of disabilities.


It is funded for in-work support through the Department of Work and Pensions' Access to Work Programme, although there is scope for this service to expand into other areas of supported employment.

It is the largest provider of the programme within London with a wide breadth of scope in terms of location and range of disabilities supported.


Main Purpose of the Job
To support client with disability/long-term health condition in their role as a school nurse.

The client works within the Harrow school nursing service.

The team work in the borough of Harrow within the community in partnership with parents, school staff, GPs, health visitors, safeguarding services and other agencies to support health and well-being of children and young people.


Detailed Responsibilities and Duties

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Notetaking in child protection meetings, strategy meetings and core groups face-to-face or remote
  • Upload notes into the clinical system or write up notes and ensure they are loaded into the system within the timescale.
  • Diary management ensuring all meetings are in the team calendar as well as clients the personal calendar
  • Support in organisational management of tasks and spreadsheets.
  • Assist client to contact parents and professionals
  • Ensure all vision screening results are correctly transcribed onto data uploading sheets
  • Attending relevant training
  • To assist client with their day to day tasks
  • Understand and work within policies covering confidentiality, Data Protection, Health and safety
  • General note taking and minutetaking at meetings
  • Attend health assessments in schools for minutes
  • Undertaking work as directed by the client, and facilitating the completion of their work duties.

The nature of the role and specific requirements of the role may change depending on the needs of the client.

Essential/Desirable Criteria
Previous experience working as a support worker


General Responsibilities

  • To be an active member of the Generate staff team.
  • To comply with all relevant Generate policies, procedures and guidelines, including but not limited to Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, Children &Vulnerable Adults, and Confidentiality of Information.
  • To represent Generate positively in a variety of situations and respond professionally to general enquiries.
  • Although normal office/ retail/ hospitality sector hours will apply, the post holder must be flexible in his/her hours to meet the needs of Generate.
  • Keep records and report on outcomes of your work.
  • Keep up to date with current issues and good practice in the field of the Access to Work programme.
  • Engage with support offered by colleagues and undertake training as required.
  • Undertake any other reasonable task relevant to the work of the organisation that may be requested by the management team.
