Functional Skills UK - Sussex

Functional Skills UK are seeking a Functional Skills tutor to join our innovative team. You will predominantly be using EDEXCEL, and support learners from Entry Level up to Level 2. Tutors will be required to work with groups as well as 1:1, through face to face and remote delivery.

Who is Functional Skills UK?
We are an independent, Brighton based, boutique training provider with courses running in Kent, Sussex, and Surrey.

We provide a wide range of qualifications which can be completed both online and face-to-face including Functional Skills and online short courses.

(We also run more leisure-based courses through our sister company, Swim UK)

For functional skills, we pride ourselves on offering dynamic and upbeat English and maths courses, aimed at providing our learners with a friendly, supportive, and positive teaching experience.

We strive for excellence, and have safeguarding and inclusion at the forefront of every lesson.

Key duties include:

Course planning and development/session preparation
Assessing learners' needs and levels
Individualised target setting and planning
Teaching English and maths from Entry level to Level
Tracking and recording learner progress
Feedback to team or employers, as required
Assessing and marking learners' work and providing written and oral feedback and guidance to learners
Exam preparation
Adhere to safeguarding and inclusion and follow company policies.
Attend CPD and standardisation

Skills or education required:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or PGCE
TEFL qualification
City & Guilds Certificate in Further Education Teaching (7407)
City & Guilds Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS
City & Guilds Further and Adult Education Teacher's Certificate (7307)
City & Guilds Initial Certificate in Teaching Basic Skills (9281)
Functional Skills English/ Maths at Level
A1 Assessor or TAQA qualification
Experience of teaching of up to 2 years
Full UK Driving licence
