  • West Berkshire**My client is looking to take on a permanent Purchasing & Planning Manager for their team near the Reading area who will be responsible overseeing the procurement of parts.
Automotive - Manufacturing - Engineering - Paintworks - Refinishing - Purchasing - Communication & Negotiation - Cost Effective Strategies - Supply Chain - Buying

The Purchasing Manager will ideally have the following attributes:

  • Preferably 2 years previous experience or more in a similar Planning & Purchasing role in an engineering manufacturing environment
  • Have previous experience in price and contract negotiation
  • Excellent relationship management capabilities
  • CIPS qualification would be desirable but not essential
  • Have good attention to detail and the initiative to follow processes
  • Can work well under pressure to achieve deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills to be able to work with a variety of people at varying levels
  • Being adaptable to changing business needs and priorities
  • Excellent proficiency with using the MS Office Suite
  • Strong analytical skills

The Purchasing Manager role will involve:

  • Managing the procurement of parts
  • Sourcing new suppliers and building long lasting supplier relationships
  • Managing Purchasing Assistants; regularly reviewing their performance
  • Negotiation of supplier quotes and securing best possible prices
  • Ensuring the timely ordering and receipt of parts required for production and notifying relevant people of any delays
  • Liaising effectively with production and engineering teams to prioritise and plan the work lists for production schedule ensuring booking in of manufactured parts
  • Ensuring accurate record keeping of batch and part numbers on internal systems
  • Managing a yearly stock take
  • Working alongside the Accounts department to align end of month processes
