The TRU West Alliance is delivering a key part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU), a multi-billion pound investment programme that will increase capacity and provide space for millions more passengers in the north every year.

The TRU West Alliance is responsible for this transformation between Leeds and Manchester Victoria.

Involving multiple bridge reconstructions, significant earthworks, refurbishment of historical listed structures besides the construction of several new stations and a multi span viaduct; TRU has an exciting portfolio of Civil engineering works to suit your interests and skillset.

We have exciting opportunities to join our dynamic team in the Huddersfield to Dewsbury corridor as Sub Agents working on the construction phase of this prestigious scheme.


Your mission
As a Sub Agent, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Set a personal example in health, safety and environmental matters by ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures through method statements, risk assessments and briefings
  • Manage, supervise and mentor Section, Site and Assistant Engineers to ensure high levels of engineering control and generation of appropriate records
  • Maintain good working relationship with Alliance staff and supply chain partners
  • Adopt and promote a costconscious attitude through efficient use of company resources
  • Support the Agent as required in operating the cost management system, the production of short term programmes
  • Communicate with key stakeholders and maintain a helpful collaborative approach
  • Adopt and promote the use of BIM technologies
  • Communicate with General Foreman to ensure adequate work preparation and resources availability
  • Assist the Agent as required to procure necessary materials, subcontracts and plant in sufficient time
  • Undertake 1 to 1 meetings, PDRs and support the development and training needs of junior staff
  • Identify and put corrective actions in place for any non conformances found

Who are we looking for?

Your qualifications and experience will include:

  • Qualified to ICE Technician or Incorporated level or equivalent (preferred)
  • Successful experience at section engineer level
  • Thorough working knowledge of Company health, safety, quality and environment procedures
  • Completion of SMSTS
