Band 6 Sister - Full Time 37.5 hours per week


The Department of Paediatrics & Child Health provides a wide range of acute services, which include 24 inpatient beds (2 high dependency), newly established Physical Assessment Unit, Paediatric Ambulatory care Unit, outreach nursing team and dedicated children's outpatients department.


The acute inpatient ward and the physical assessment unit offers a wide range of experience caring for children with general and acute medical, surgical, orthopaedic, oncology conditions and high dependency care.

You must have a minimum of 2 years experience on a general paediatric ward and proven shift management skills.

You can have the opportunity to develop your clinical and management skills within our well-established team.


The post holder will be required to work in the Paediatric Physical Assessment Unit, effectively as part of a team to ensure a high standard of care is provided.

They will be responsible for the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of care on the Physical Assessment Unit.

The post-holder will co-ordinate care on the assessment unit providing clear professional leadership in implementing Nurse Led Discharges. The post holder will act as an advisor on paediatric issues throughout the Trust out of hours.

The post holder will liaise closely with parents/carers and all members of the multidisciplinary team and thus ensure effective communication of all relevant information.

The Post Holder may also cover a range of shifts in the main Inpatient ward - Sunshine Ward.
