The Sun is the UK's biggest-selling newspaper, with a Sport team which leads the way with the biggest exclusives, up-to-the-minute news stories, razor-sharp columnists, and must-read features.

Our Racing team is the best in the business, creating industry-leading content every day online and in print.

We're proud to break stories, provide up-to-the-minute news and produce the number one supplement, The Favourite, every Saturday and during all the big racing Festivals.

Purpose of role:

Write engaging, entertaining and accurate stories for our digital and print platforms that will help drive new fans to the sport and enlighten seasoned followers.

You will be a passionate, knowledgeable writer/sub-editor eager to work within the racing team, also helping to design racing content and pullouts.

Key accountabilities:

Writing engaging, accurate and concise content suitable for both print and digital audiences.
Recognising unique, fun angles to stories that promote Sun Racing as the No1 voice in the sport.
Producing engaging, SEOfriendly headlines to maximise visibility and possessing a savvy understanding of social media.
Breaking news, generating ideas for stories and features and driving the daily agenda.
Ensuring accuracy and precision at all times, while maintaining The Sun's unique voice.
Taking on adhoc responsibilities as and when required to ensure the success of the team.
Helping out to subedit copy and produce and design the racing pages.
A keen eye for layout and a strong attention to detail.

Key Skills and Experience:

Demonstrable knowledge and interest in racing
Experience of digital publishing, ideally with some knowledge of Wordpress CMS and optimising stories for SEO
Works well under pressure and delivers work at a consistently high standard
Taking initiative and willingness to adapt
Positive attitude and good team player
Selfstarter, organised and a good problemsolver, able to eliminate obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches
Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
Can demonstrate an understanding of the The Sun brand, both print and digital
Flexibility to work shift patterns across seven days
