As a Youth & Employability Mentor, you will provide one-on-one mentoring to help young people develop their social emotional and mental health (SEMH) skills, build resilience, improve life skills and prepare for the world of work, working with key stakeholders such as schools and job centres.

We're looking for an individual who is compassionate, driven, and eager to grow, with a genuine passion for engaging with young people.

Through personalised one-on-one mentoring, you will help them develop crucial social and emotional competencies, build resilience, and prepare for success in the professional world.

Job Summary

Work in various locations predominately across Birmingham & Sandwell, working with disengaged young people years) to deliver preplanned one to one mentoring sessions.
Support the development of EET and/ or NEET Young People by delivering mentoring sessions on life skills or employment opportunities
Support a young person's progression using a mix of holistic support and mentoring techniques, keeping a focus on achieving sustainable employment and/or training/education at all times

Person Specification

Essential

A relevant qualification youth work, childcare support, advice or guidance qualification, or equivalent experience.
Evidence of CPD in youth education sector
Recruiting hard to reach young people.
1+ year of working with 1129 year old EET and/or NEET young people
An infectious passion, enthusiasm & charisma
Excellent organisation skills
A fully enhanced DBS disclosure
Ability and confidence to work alone
A polite, professional appearance & manner
High levels of selfmotivation, energy and determination
Evidence of commitment S4L's vision

Desirable

Level 3 in coaching & mentoring (or equivalent)
Delivering personal development support
Delivering quality client Information, Advice and Guidance.
Managing a caseload of young people
An interest in and passion for sport
