Job summary:

This position is advertised for 21 hrs per week between Wed and Fri.


This position will provide logistics support to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) in contribution to the sustained operations of the Royal Air Force's historic aircraft.

A valued member of Logistics Squadron you will be responsible to the Officer Commanding Equipment Support Flight.


Your role will involve the logístical management of both aircraft and general stores and ensure Materiel Account Assurance is maintained.


You will engage with numerous station sections for supply chain solutions and will reach out to external agencies regularly for the management of serviceable and unserviceable assets.


You will be relied upon to deliver the highest standards within a professional organisation where your efforts will be vital to the continued operations of the BBMF aircraft.


Job description:


  • Ensuring that all equipment received into BBMF is correctly receipted, labelled, conditioned, handled and stored appropriately. Ensure that clear segregation of all serviceable, unserviceable, F760 and scrap equipment is maintained.
  • Management of Short Shelf-Life items and elastomeric items are processed appropriately.
  • The vetting and placement of all demands for BBMF on appropriate logistics platforms.
  • Ensure aircraft states are correctly reported and notified to Station Log Ops by submission of a State Sheet and Demand Progression (DemProg).
  • Ensuring all Internal and External Issues are correctly vouched, labelled and accounted for on MJDI.
  • Maintain all BBMF 'G' series Articles in Use (AinU) with the aim of remaining at a zero balance on behalf of the IAA manager (SNCO Dispersed Logistics Section (DLS)). All issues to aircraft are to be recorded on the BBMF Daily Transaction Sheet (DTS).
  • Conduct weekly oracle runs in conjunction with the DTS to hasten the return of all outstanding U/S returns.
  • Provide BBMF Trade Manager's with updated forecasts for demands when necessary. All outstanding demands are to be hastened with the engineers on a regular basis to confirm the requirement remains extant.
  • Conduct weekly checks of 'Consumable' Store Forward Holdings and Fuel &Lubricant stocks to ensure sufficient holdings to cover 28 days of consumption.
  • Carry out stocktaking as per the quadrennial stocktaking programme when required, and assist during Monthly Snap Checks.
  • Progress outstanding internal account transfers with consignors on a daily basis, any problems that cannot be satisfactorily resolved are to be highlighted to JNCO DLS.
  • Prepare auditable vouchers to a high standard, fully cross referenced where applicable for presentation to SNCO DLS for scrutiny through JNCO BBMF Logs.
  • Maintain currency with all HRMS competencies as required under their terms of employment.
  • Maintain the integrity and security of BBMF stock ensuring that no unauthorised personnel are allowed unescorted access to Logistics storage areas.

Person specification:

The successful individual should be comfortable working alongside a large team where teamwork will be vital.
